medina de las torres half marathon

Nestled in the heart of Extremadura, the V. Half Marathon “Ruta de los Monumentos” returns to the charming town of Medina de las Torres on Sunday, 11 October 2026. Now in its fifth edition, this race has firmly established itself as one of the most scenic and welcoming half marathons in the region — a perfect blend of competitive spirit, stunning landscape, and small-town warmth.

The Course – Medina de las Torres Half Marathon

The 21.097 km route begins and ends in the Plaza de España, right alongside the town hall, giving the event a wonderfully local, community-rooted feel. Roughly 85% of the course winds through trails and dirt paths in excellent condition, with only 15% on tarmac — making it a genuine mixed-terrain challenge that rewards runners who relish variety underfoot. The total elevation puts you through a real workout without overwhelming, and the surrounding countryside of Badajoz province provides a backdrop that is hard to beat. Alongside the half marathon, a flat-friendly 8K promotion race runs concurrently, making the event accessible to runners of all abilities.

Organisation & Logistics

Dorsal collection opens at 8:15 in the Plaza de España, with the half marathon starting at 9:30 and the 8K following ten minutes later. The cut-off is set at 12:00 — two and a half hours — giving a generous window for all paces. Awards and prize draws follow at approximately 13:00, with children’s races in between to keep the family atmosphere buzzing throughout the morning.

Categories & Prizes

The race caters to a wide range of competitors across Junior, Senior, Veterano A/B/C, Inclusión, and Local categories for both men and women. Cash prizes go to the top three in the general classification: €300, €175, and €100 for both male and female winners. Local runners have their own dedicated prize of €50. Trophies are awarded across all age categories, provided a minimum of three athletes compete.

The Runner’s Experience

Every registered participant receives the celebrated Gran Bolsa del Corredor — packed with a technical garment, solid and liquid refreshments, and various extras. On the day, expect liquid stations every 5 km, mid-race and finish-line food stops, showers, changing facilities, a cloakroom, a DJ, physiotherapy massages, prize draws, and the kind of festival energy that only a well-loved local race can produce.

Registration

Sign up via cronofinisher.com. Early bird pricing starts at €15 for the first 150 places, rising to €20 closer to the deadline of 4 October 2026. Clubs entering 10 or more runners receive a 10% discount. Total capacity is capped at 300 participants, so securing your spot early is advised.
