Virtual Races in Spain 2026: Virtual Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Challenges

Virtual races in Spain let you run a 5K, a 10K or a virtual half marathon wherever you like, on your own schedule, and still get a medal, a certificate or a good cause out of it. The market is smaller than it was before 2020, so we checked what is actually open today: a free half marathon challenge of our own, a charity virtual run in Madrid, a Spanish challenge platform with a free certificate, an international medal club that ships to Spain, and a well-known solidarity race that has gone back to the streets.

Below you will find each option with its distance, price, deadline, what you get and who it suits. Prices and dates were checked on October 5, 2026; always confirm on the organiser’s website before you pay. Training for a real start line instead? Browse the half marathon calendar for Spain.

Spain Half Marathon Virtual Challenge

Open 1–30 November 202621.1 km (one run or up to six)FreePrintable certificate + share image

1 km, covered at any point between 1 and 30 November 2026. 1 km, which makes it a friendly first virtual race for beginners and returning runners. Road, trail, track and treadmill all count, and so does an official half marathon you were running anyway. When you finish, enter your name, your times, the date and an optional personal message, and tick the box if it was a personal best.

The site then builds your certificate: a printable A4 landscape diploma and a 4:5 picture sized for Instagram and Strava. Everything is generated in your browser, nothing is uploaded or stored, and the challenge runs on the honour system. There is no entry fee. Join our Strava club to follow other runners and share your effort.

Asociación Víctimas del Terrorismo (AVT), Madrid

Carrera Virtual AVT 2026

Registration open until 24 October 20265K or 10K (run or walk)€12 per categoryCharity run, regulations in Spanish

The Carrera Virtual AVT 2026 is a charity virtual run organised by the Asociación Víctimas del Terrorismo (AVT) in Madrid. It is one of the few virtual races in Spain still open for registration: you can sign up until 24 October 2026, and the race itself takes place over the weekend of 24 and 25 October.

You choose between a 5K and a 10K, and either can be run or walked wherever you like, so it works as a virtual 10K from home, in your local park or on a treadmill. The fee is €12 per category, handled through the Mychip and RockTheSport registration platform, and the regulations are published in Spanish on the event page.

As with most solidarity runs, the point is taking part for the cause rather than chasing a podium time. The listing does not say what is included beyond registration, so read the rules before you pay. If you want a short, low-cost virtual race with a purpose, this is the most time-sensitive option on this page.

Victoris (Spain)

Victoris: virtual running challenges with medals

Always open, no fixed deadline listed10 km to 300 km challengesFree certificate, medal from €34.99Digital certificate or physical medal

Victoris is a Spanish platform built around long virtual challenges with real medals. Instead of one race on one day, you pick a challenge such as the Camino de Santiago (122 km), the Reto de Hermes (300 km), the Reto SteamBoat (100 km) or the Adrenaline Race (10 km), then add up your kilometres at your own pace.

The app converts steps, kilometres and calories into progress, and running, walking, cycling and swimming all count, so a virtual Camino de Santiago challenge can be built from daily jogs and weekend long runs. 99 with a collectible display case. The site does not state a deadline for finishing a challenge.

It suits runners who like gradual goals, a free way to try virtual running in Spanish, and anyone who wants a medal without a race-day schedule.

MedalMad (United Kingdom)

MedalMad: themed virtual challenges with medals

Always open, about 12 months to finish5K to 1,000+ milesFrom around €18Physical medal shipped worldwide

MedalMad is a long-running virtual challenge company based in Gloucestershire in the UK, and it ships medals to more than 50 countries, so it is an easy option for runners living in Spain who prefer English-language sites. The catalogue is themed: fairytale, Christmas, history, wildlife, pop culture and world-explorer challenges, from 5K up to 1,000 miles, with dedicated half marathon and marathon categories.

Typical 5K and 10K challenges were listed at around €18 when we checked. You log activities in the MedalMad app or on the website, and running, walking, cycling, swimming, rowing, dancing and plain steps all count. You normally have three months to start a challenge and about twelve months to finish it, which makes it the most flexible virtual race with a medal on this list.

It is a good fit for casual runners, walkers and families who want a collectable rather than a finishing time. Check delivery to Spain and the final price at checkout.

Fundación Entreculturas

Entreculturas “Corre por una Causa” (virtual in 2021)

No virtual edition open now: next edition to be announced5K to 14K, plus children’s racesAround €6 per runnerSolidarity race for education

Entreculturas, the NGO behind the Corre por una Causa circuit, is the best-known example of a solidarity run that went virtual. 30 registration that included a commemorative t-shirt. Since then the race has returned to the streets: the 15th edition ran in about 15 Spanish cities between February and May 2026, with distances from 5K to 14K, a 5K walk and children's races, raising funds for refugee children's education.

We list it because it keeps appearing in searches for virtual charity races, but there is no virtual edition open right now. If you cannot travel to a city race, follow the Corre por una Causa website and the #10porlaEducación hashtag when the 2027 edition opens, and ask whether a virtual or dorsal 0 option is offered.

Until then, the AVT race above is the closest alternative.

FAQ

Virtual races in Spain: frequently asked questions

What is a virtual race?

A virtual race is a running event you complete on your own, anywhere and usually within a date window, instead of at a shared start line. You record the distance with a watch or app, report your result and receive a digital certificate, a medal or both.

Are there free virtual races in Spain?

Yes. Our own Spain Half Marathon Virtual Challenge is free and gives you a printable certificate, and the Basic tier on Victoris is free with a digital certificate. Charity runs such as the AVT race charge a small fee that goes to the cause.

Can I run a virtual half marathon on a treadmill?

In most virtual races, yes: road, trail, track and treadmill all count, and our challenge accepts all of them. Some charity events also allow walking. Always check the regulations of each event.

Do virtual race times count as an official personal best?

Not as an official record, because the course is not measured and nobody times you. Many runners still log a virtual half marathon as a personal best for their own training, and our certificate has a PB option for exactly that. For a certified time, run a timed race from the half marathon calendar.

Do I get a medal in a virtual race?

It depends on the organiser. Victoris and MedalMad sell physical medals, usually shipped to your home for an extra fee, while many charity runs give a t-shirt or only a digital diploma. Check what is included before you register.

Is a virtual half marathon good preparation for a real race?

It is a useful long-run test with a goal and a deadline, especially if you pace it like race day. It does not replace a real start line, so use it as a rehearsal and then choose a race from the Spanish half marathon calendar.

How long do I have to finish a virtual race?

It varies from one weekend (the AVT race) to a month (our challenge) to about twelve months (MedalMad). Victoris does not state a limit on its site.
