Spain's 29 November Election Moves Seven Half Marathons

Spain’s general election was called for Sunday 29 November 2026, and it has hit the race calendar. Election day needs police, local staff and public spaces, so councils and organisers couldn’t keep the usual Sunday races. Seven half marathons have changed date, and the changes have knocked into each other, which is why a few of them moved twice.

New dates at a glance

Race Old date New date
Seville Sun 29 Nov Sun 13 Dec, 9:00
Córdoba Sun 29 Nov Sun 13 Dec
Alcoy Sun 29 Nov Sun 13 Dec, 9:00
Seville–Los Palacios Sun 13 Dec Sun 20 Dec, 11:00
Cieza Sun 29 Nov Sun 20 Dec, 10:00
Guadalajara Sun 29 Nov Sat 28 Nov, 17:00
Madrid Vuela Sun 29 Nov Sat 28 Nov

Two ways to move

Most organisers pushed the race back to December. Seville and Córdoba chose 13 December, which then clashed with Seville–Los Palacios, so that race moved a week to 20 December.

Guadalajara and Madrid Vuela took the other route and moved one day earlier, to Saturday 28 November. Guadalajara now starts in the afternoon, at 17:00.

What happens to your entry

In every case we’ve found, existing entries stay valid for the new date. Refund and transfer rules differ, and some windows have already closed:

  • Seville: if you can’t make 13 December, you can move your entry to the 2027, 2028 or 2029 edition. Requests close on 20 October in the runner’s private area.
  • Córdoba: the refund window closed on 12 October.
  • Alcoy: refunds were open from 8 to 15 October.
  • Cieza: those who entered before 7 October could ask for a refund until 25 October.

What to check now

  • Travel and hotels. If you’ve booked for 28 or 29 November, check cancellation terms before you do anything else. Seville has over 22,000 runners, so December hotels in the city will fill up.
  • Expo and bib pick-up. Several races haven’t published new pick-up days yet, and Madrid Vuela’s Saturday timetable isn’t confirmed. Check the official site before you travel.
  • Training. Two extra weeks (or a day less) changes your taper. Work back from the new date.

We’ve updated every race page with the new date. Some listing sites still show 29 November, so trust the organisers’ own pages. See the November and December calendars for everything else.
