Four races moved to the same date and two more joined the calendar, so Sunday 31 January 2027 is now the busiest half-marathon day of the winter in Spain. We’ve confirmed eight races on that morning. If you’re planning a January half, here is how they compare. Our January calendar lists the rest of the month.

The eight races

Race Region Highlights
Castellón Valencian Community 42nd edition
Getafe Madrid 27th edition
Alzira Valencian Community 28th edition, 9:30, 2 h 20 limit, from €10
El Puerto de Santa María Andalusia 9:00, 3rd edition, moved from May
Dos Hermanas Andalusia 28th edition, moves from October
Puente Genil Andalusia 37th edition, a week earlier than usual
Morón–Arahal Andalusia 43rd edition, now Arahal to Morón
Sant Cugat Catalonia 40th edition, Catalan championship

What changed

  • Dos Hermanas held its 27th edition in October 2026, and its regulations guarantee a free bib for the 28th edition on 31 January 2027 to anyone who enters the 2026 race.
  • Puente Genil announced the date back in July so that entries could open early in autumn.
  • Morón–Arahal’s “La Cal y el Olivo” is usually in early February. For 2027 local press says the 43rd edition moves to the end of January, with the direction reversed.
  • El Puerto de Santa María held its second edition on 24 May 2026 and switches to January for its third, adding a 10K.
  • Sant Cugat becomes the Catalan half-marathon championship for its 40th edition, with a two-lap homologated course.

How to choose

  • Fast and flat, near Valencia: Alzira is cheap and quiet (the time limit is a tight 2 hours 20), while Castellón is the bigger, long-established option.
  • Andalusia in January: four races compete for your weekend. El Puerto has a new 4,500-runner format with 3,000 places in the half; Dos Hermanas is the budget option; Puente Genil and Morón–Arahal are the old-school small-town races.
  • Madrid and Barcelona: Getafe and Sant Cugat are the city-adjacent choices. Sant Cugat costs €28 for the 21K and doubles as a championship.

Before you enter

Entries close at different times (Alzira on 17 January, El Puerto on 17 January, Sant Cugat on 24 January), and several of these races have not yet published their prices, start times or courses. Check each race page for the latest, and note that some of the details in these races come from last year’s editions.
