Alzira is a town of about 45,000 on the Xúquer river, 40 km south of Valencia, and its half marathon opens the year for runners in the area. The 28th Mitja Marató Ciutat d’Alzira is on Sunday 31 January 2027, with the start at 9:30 on Avinguda del Parc. It’s run by Club Atletisme Rickysporteam Alzira with the city council.
A semi-urban course with a rural edge
The 21,097 m route is homologated and described in the race information as semi-urban: it passes through the town’s main streets and then runs along natural areas on the edge of Alzira. Earlier editions listed Camí la Solana, the Valle de la Murta and Camino Tavessa among the landmarks. Refreshment points sit about every 5 km, and the finish is back on Avinguda del Parc.
Rules and costs
- Time limit: 2 hours 20 minutes, a strict cut-off by half-marathon standards, so it suits runners already comfortable at 6:30 per km or faster.
- Entry: listed at €10 in the current tier, with entries closing on 17 January 2027 at 23:59.
- Runner’s bag: optional and paid for separately.
- Prizes: the first three finishers in each category get trophies.
- Timing and registration: Runática.
Last year the race was on Sunday 1 February 2026, also at 9:30, so the 2027 edition moves from the first Sunday of February to the last Sunday of January.
Combining it with a trip
Alzira is on the Cercanías line south of Valencia. The same morning, the Castellón Half Marathon and the Getafe Half Marathon are also on, so Alzira is the low-cost option for runners in the Valencia area.
