Medina de las Torres is a village of around 1,200 people near Zafra, in the south of Badajoz province. Its half marathon, the “Ruta de los Monumentos”, is a country race: about 85% of the 21.097 km runs on dirt tracks and farm roads in very good condition, and just 15% on asphalt. The 5th edition starts at 9:30 on Sunday 11 October 2026 from the Plaza de España, next to the town hall, and finishes there too.
Race morning
| Time | |
|---|---|
| 8:15 | Bib pickup, Plaza de España |
| 9:10 | Start pen opens |
| 9:30 | Half marathon start |
| 9:40 | 8K race start |
| 12:00 | Finish closes |
| ~13:00 | Children’s races, prizes and prize draws |
You have 2 h 30 min, and you must go through the start pen to be officially timed and insured. Drinks are roughly every 5 km, with food and drink around halfway and at the finish. Changing rooms, showers and a bag drop next to the start are provided.
Well-kept tracks mean road shoes are usually fine in dry weather. After rain, pick something with more grip. Dirt is slower than tarmac, so set your target a few minutes slower than your road time.
Entry
The half marathon and the 8K cost the same:
- €15 from the second day of registration until 31 August or the first 150 entries, then €20 until the deadline.
- Clubs entering 10 or more runners get 10% off.
- Entries close on 4 October at 23:59 on Cronofinisher, or when 300 runners have signed up. Minimum age is 16.
- A “Dorsal 0” option lets supporters buy the runner’s bag and join the prize draws without racing.
Prizes
This is a small race with generous prizes:
- €300, €175 and €100 for the top three men and top three women overall.
- €50 for the first local man and woman.
- Trophies for age groups (at least three runners per category) and for local runners.
- Special prizes for the biggest club, the runner who travelled furthest, and anyone who breaks the course record.
- An Inclusion category for runners with a recognised disability of 33% or more.
Every runner gets the “Gran Bolsa del Corredor” with technical clothing. Zafra, with its two arcaded squares and ducal palace, is 15 minutes away if you want to stay the night.
