- Runs inside the Doñana Biosphere Reserve
- Tracks, drove roads and pine woods
- Held during the San Sebastián town festivities
- Around 600 runners
If you prefer nature to city streets, La Puebla del Río is a very different half marathon. The course runs almost entirely inside the Doñana Biosphere Reserve, starting and finishing in town on the banks of the Guadalquivir.
Course
After leaving town, the route follows old drove roads (cañadas reales) and farm tracks out to an area of eucalyptus, Mediterranean scrub and pine woods known locally as Gurugú, before returning. It is flat, but the surface is mixed, so trail-friendly road shoes are a good choice, especially after rain.
Good to know
- Typical date: mid-January, during the town’s San Sebastián festivities. The 2027 date has not been announced yet.
