If you want a half marathon in August, this is the one the calendars keep pointing to. The Medio Maratón Báscones de Ojeda is run in Báscones de Ojeda, a village in the north of Palencia province, as part of the Fiesta del Valle del Boedo “Virgen del Boedo” on 15 and 16 August. The 2026 half marathon was the 52nd edition and took place on Saturday 15 August.
A village race with no entry fee
It is organised by CD Atletismo San Miguel and the Fundación Río Boedo, with the village council’s support. Entry is free for all three races on the programme: the half marathon (21.097 km), the marathon (42.195 km, also called the Maratón Río Boedo) and a 6 km race, the Legua.
The course
The marathon circuit runs between Báscones de Ojeda, Revilla de Collazos and Collazos de Boedo and back, with drinks about every 4 km. We haven’t found a published elevation profile or time limit, and the organisers’ pages don’t give a start time, so check their website for the exact schedule. Runners get medals and diplomas, and the top three in each category win trophies.
Planning a visit
Race calendars list the next edition for 21–22 August 2027, but treat that as provisional until the organisers publish the regulations. The village is small, and the race falls in the middle of the local fiestas, so book accommodation early or stay in a larger town nearby. In late summer, expect heat: this is not a race for a personal best.
