The Mitja Marató de Vilanova i la Geltrú is one of the last half marathons of the year around Barcelona. The 37th edition is on Sunday 13 December 2026, starting at 9:30 at the municipal athletics track. The distance is a certified 21.097 km, run alongside a 10K. Don’t confuse it with the Montornès–Montmeló–Vilanova–La Roca half, a different race in the Vallès.
Old town, port, wind
The route is entirely urban, with roughly 90 m of climbing. In last year’s course guide by Blogmaldito, the half marathon was two laps from the track, running through the Casc Antic and out along the seafront promenade and port, with the 10K branching off at about km 8.6. The guide flagged:
- an undulating, industrial opening up to about km 1.5;
- narrow railway tunnels at about km 5.2 and 16.3;
- climbs on Carrer Joan Llevarias, at about km 5.5 to 7 and 16.8 to 18.2;
- several 180-degree turns around the port.
Its advice: use the first lap to look around and push on the second, and expect the wind to hurt more than the hills. Six pacers ran in 2025, for 1:25, 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50 and 2:00. Course details can change between editions, so check the 2026 map.
