Don Benito City Half Marathon (with marathon) 2027

Don Benito, in the Vegas Altas of Badajoz province, is giving its own marathon and half a second go. The 2nd Maratón y Media Maratón Popular “Ciudad de Don Benito” is on Sunday 14 February 2027, with start and finish at Plaza de España. It’s organised by the town’s sports department with local athletics, triathlon and marathon clubs. A 10K “promotion” race runs the same morning. Don’t mix it up with the town’s older October half, the Virgen de las Cruces.

Two laps through the town

The half marathon is two laps of a homologated urban circuit of 21,097 m, and the marathon is four laps of the same loop. In the first edition the loop passed the Ethnographic Museum and the streets Arroyazo, Ancha and Donoso Cortés. The regulations list 158 m of climbing for the half and an altitude between 265 and 296 m, so it is fast but not pancake flat. Aid stations are about every 5 km, and the organisers promise animation points along the route.

What the 2026 edition set up

• Start: 9:00 for the marathon and half, 9:20 for the 10K, with six corrals for the half from under 1:20 to over 2:00.
• Time limit for the half: the control closed at 11:30, 2 hours 30 minutes after the gun.
• Weather: the regulations quote a January/February average of 13 °C last year, ranging from 1 °C to 20 °C.
• Medal and bag: every finisher gets a medal, and the runner’s bag comes with your bib.

Entry

The half marathon costs €22 until 1 November 2026 and €25 after that, with entries closing on 4 February 2027. You must be 18 for the half and 16 for the 10K. For another Extremadura half in February, see Alburquerque, usually in the last week of the month.
