The Vélez-Málaga Half Marathon is traditionally run on 1 May, the Labour Day holiday, which makes it easy to plan well in advance. It is organised by the town council with the Rincón Fertilidad Vélez athletics club and certified by the Andalusian Athletics Federation.
Course
The start is on Avenida Villa de Madrid. The route covers the streets of Vélez-Málaga and heads down to the coast at Torre del Mar, the town’s seaside district. There are unusually many aid stations: around km 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20, plus the finish. That helps, because early May on the Axarquía coast can already be warm.
