Cáceres’ walled old town is one of the best-preserved medieval centres in Europe, and its half marathon is held after dark, when the stone streets are at their most atmospheric. It is organised by the municipal sports institute.
Course
Start and finish are in the Plaza Mayor. The asphalt route, certified by the Extremadura Athletics Federation, weaves through the historic monumental city. Old towns mean slopes: expect some climbing and cobbled sections.
