Only a few kilometres from the busy Costa del Sol beaches, the Mijas Half Marathon goes the other way, into the countryside and hills of the Mijas municipality. It is organised by Club Polideportivo Mijas.
Course
Expect a rural route with climbs and mixed surfaces rather than a fast road course. The 4-hour time limit shows the organisers want it open to walkers and hikers as well as runners.
Good to know
- Typical date: a Saturday in late February. The 2027 date has not been announced yet.
- Participation capped at around 600.
- Trophies for the top three men and women in each category.
- Late-February weather in the Mijas hills is usually mild, but the sun can be strong at midday.
