The Mitja Marató Internacional Vila de Santa Pola is one of the fastest and busiest half marathons in Spain. The organisers describe it as among the country’s four best, with close to 10,000 runners across both races. The 35th edition is on Sunday 24 January 2027 at 10:30, organised by Club Atletismo Santa Pola. The course is certified by the RFEA and AIMS.
Why people come for a PB
The course records show what’s possible here: 59:09 by Alexander Mutiso and 1:07:07 by Kidsan Alema. Anyone who breaks either wins €3,000. It’s a single loop that starts and finishes at the harbour on Calle Muelle. As described for recent editions, it goes west through the town, out along a main road, round a hairpin on one of the harbour jetties, and then between the sea and seafront villas from about km 8 to km 10. The last three kilometres repeat the km 4–6 section.
Water is at km 5, 10 and 15. Because km 20 is right next to km 5, whatever is left there is available again late in the race. There are sponge points along the course, and water and Powerade at the finish.

Bibs, gifts and prizes
Bibs are only handed out at the runners’ fair next to Santa Pola castle, 200 m from the start:
- Friday 22 January, 17:00–20:00
- Saturday 23 January, 10:00–20:00
- Sunday 24 January, until 9:00
Bring your ID, or authorise someone else through the website. The cloakroom and free massage are in the same tent, and clubs with more than 15 runners can ask for a free 3×3 m team tent 100 m from the finish. Entries made by 17 December can have a nickname printed on the bib.
Every runner gets a Joma technical shirt (sizes guaranteed only for entries before 31 August) and a bag of Santa Pola salt. Finishers also get a towel and a medal, which you can have engraved for €6 when you enter or €10 at the fair. There’s a shirt-swap stand if your size is wrong.
Prize money goes €2,000, €1,200, €800, €400 and €300 to the top five men and women, with extra prizes for Spanish runners, locals and club teams. The full amounts are only paid under 1:06 for men and 1:15 for women, and half is paid up to 1:10 and 1:25.
