Lugo is the only city in the world completely surrounded by intact Roman walls, and its half marathon makes the most of them. The race is organised by the newspaper El Progreso with Lugo city council and has raised funds for UNICEF.
Course
Start and finish are near Praza de Horta do Seminario in the centre. The urban course highlights the city’s monumental heritage. Expect some rolling sections, as Lugo sits on a hill above the Miño.

- Typical date: mid-May (third Sunday in 2026). The 2027 date has not been announced yet.
- Time limit: 2 hours 30 minutes.
- More than 800 runners.
- Cash prizes for overall winners.
- Walk the 2 km path along the top of the walls the day before: it’s free and a great shake-out.
